ABOUT

About One Spine Chiropractic

At One Spine Chiropractic, our goal is to educate the patient on the importance of taking care of their own health. We are not “fixing” a problem, but guiding the patient towards making a change. By doing this, we encourage them to take the driver seat, take the wheel and take control. Our Singapore chiropractors are the passengers that provide guidance in the right direction.

We do understand that pain relief is important, but it is vital to address the underlying factor that is causing your pain. We wish to provide chiropractic care to families who want to learn and grow with us.

One Spine Chiropractic Team

Meet Our Team

D.C. Melanie Tjahaja

Hello,

My name is Melanie

Hi everyone! I was born and raised in Singapore, graduated from Murdoch University and had recently relocated back from Perth, Western Australia after spending 10 years down under. To me, providing chiropractic care to families is not a job, but a passion. I’ve always loved the idea of caring for people and enjoy meaningful conversations, hence I fell in love with the profession. I have developed a strong interest in providing care for pregnant women over the years. The changes physically and emotionally that a pregnant woman will go through is something that most of us might not fully understand. And I wish to provide all the help they deserve to make their birthing process easier. I can’t wait to meet all of you who are willing to take a step towards better health!

Hello,

My name is Anthony

G’day Lah! I was born and raised in Sydney Australia, graduated from Macquarie University. I have been working and living in Singapore as a Chiropractor since 2014. I first found out about Chiropractic in 2003 after I underwent an unavoidable knee surgery due to a football injury. I was amazed at how undergoing Chiropractic treatment post-surgery could make such a huge impact on my life and allowed me to gain full use of my knee again. From this experience I knew I wanted to help others who needed Chiropractic care. I love assisting my patients with their spinal health. Whether it be sporting injuries, aches and pains due to daily stresses, correcting their postural concerns or managing severe pain, I enjoy helping to guide my patients back to optimal health. Since 2014 I have had the pleasure of working in Clementi, and have truly become part of the heartland community. I especially enjoy educating my patients on the benefits of looking after their health, seeing their lives change and realising that they don’t have to live in pain or discomfort.

Chiropractic for everyone

Everyone needs a well-functioning spine for life. When we have pain or dysfunction in our body, it affects everything we do in our daily lives and our relationship with others. At One Spine, we know that chiropractic care can add tremendous value to your life. We also know that good health is the forefront of a happy, healthy family. Which is why our vision is to have quality spinal care accessible to all Singaporeans and Singaporean families.

We want to help you have a better relationship with your body

At One Spine, we’ll be doing the work together to improve your spinal health and achieve your health goals. We don’t want to just fix your problems. More than that, we want to help you understand your spine and your body better, and to equip you with the right knowledge to make good lifestyle choices. As the adage goes: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. We want to empower you to have a better relationship with your body, and to take charge of your health.

Future-proof your body

We believe that great chiropractic care is not just about relieving pain. Understanding that the absence of pain does not equal to health is vital. You do not need to be in pain to receive chiropractic care. Spinal degenerative changes can take place without pain, or any obvious symptoms for years. As chiropractors who want the best for you, we want to help you future proof your body. Just like healthy eating and brushing your teeth, spinal health should be an integral part of healthcare. We do not want to fix problems only when pain arises, as often this will be in later stages of dysfunction.

Our commitment to you

We find great satisfaction in working with families and individuals to regain their health. We are committed to listening to you, understanding your goals, and helping you achieve your fullest health potential. You can count on us to provide you with the best possible chiropractic care in Singapore.

Our chiropractors

All our chiropractors are University trained and registered with the appropriate health regulation bodies such as the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). We continue to develop our professional skills and clinical competencies to provide our patients with the best possible health outcomes.

  • 5 things you should know before visiting a Singapore's Chiropractor

    • It should not be painful when the chiropractor treats you.
    • The cracking/adjusting of your spine is safe when performed by a trained professional
    • Every patient's body and condition is different, and your chiropractor will carry out thorough tests and history-taking, to clearly understand you and your condition.
    • Further tests such as an X-Ray may be prescribed to safely and accurately diagnose and treat your specific condition.
    • Besides adjusting the spine, we prescribe exercises and rehabilitation to our patients, working together with them to actively improve their health.
  • What is the difference between chiropractic, physiotherapy and TCM?

    • Our Singapore chiropractors specialise in the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. This means we are experts in treating nerve, muscle, and joint conditions.
    • Chiropractic is unique because it uses a technique called a 'chiropractic adjustment'.
    • Chiropractic treatmets takes a comprehensive approach by scientifically considering the entire body and enhancing overall health through adjustments and rehabilitation modalities. These methods aim to improve the well-being of nerves, muscles, and joints through active and passive means.
    • Many patients choose chiropractic as their first port of call for spinal health.
    • Our chiropractors at One Spine perform a physical examination to identify the joint which is the root cause of the problem. A targeted chiropractic adjustment is then skillfully performed on that joint to improve joint, muscle, and nerve health.
  • Can my young child or elderly Grandma visit One Spine?

    Of course!

    • With our personalised care at One Spine, we safely and effectively managed many patients, from babies up to patients in their 90s!
    • Not every patient is the same, so not every form of chiropractic treatment in Singapore is the same; we modify the treatment according to the patient's needs.
    • Patients with osteoporosis, severe arthritis, and spinal degeneration can be safely and effectively improved with the right approach and expert care.
  • How many times do you visit a chiropractor?

The number of visits to a chiropractor varies depending on the patient's condition, their health goals, and the type of care they require.

At One Spine Chiropractic, we have 3-step progress to help our patients achieve their health goals:

Step 1: Relief Care - During this stage, our goal is to relieve any pain or discomfort that the patient is experiencing. Typically, this stage requires more frequent visits, usually twice a week, until the patient's symptoms improve.

Step 2: Structural Care - Once the patient has experienced some relief, our focus shifts to correcting the underlying problem that caused the pain or discomfort. This stage usually requires once a week visits.

Step 3: Wellness Care - After the patient has completed the first two stages, our goal is to maintain the progress made and prevent any relapses. This stage typically requires once a month visits.

It's important to note that the number of visits and duration of care varies depending on the individual's health needs and goals.

Our chiropractors work closely with each patient to develop a personalised treatment plan that is tailored to their unique needs and goals.

  • Is chiropractic recognised in Singapore?

In Singapore, chiropractic is considered complementary and alternative medicine rather than an officially recognised allied health profession. As a result, chiropractors in Singapore are not regulated under the Private Hospital and Medical Clinic Act (PHMCA) or the Allied Health Professions Act. However, many individuals still find value in chiropractic care for their well-being.

  • Why would a chiropractor recommend an X-rays?

Chiropractors may recommend X-rays to assess the musculoskeletal system, diagnose conditions, and develop personalized treatment plans. X-rays can help identify structural abnormalities, misalignments, fractures, or degenerative changes in the spine or joints.
